Easter 2013

We were booked solid this weekend with Uncle John's birthday up in Crofton on Saturday and then Easter dinner at Joe and Peggy's house on Sunday.  We got a little bit of a break because Emily insisted on spending the night at Grandma's house Saturday!  They had a great time making cupcakes for our dinner today.  Timmy and I started the morning by putting out the Easter buckets that the kids wouldn't see until this afternoon.  The Easter bunny was very good to Jason since he knew that Jason would be "sharing" with his daddy (lots of Cadberry cream eggs and Reese's peanut butter eggs!).

Emily's picture from daycare on Friday.  Her class had an Easter party and she was all gung-ho to sit with the Easter bunny until she actually got up there.

Emmy likes using Mr. Fluffy as a bean bag chair.

Garrett's Easter goodies included a new Redskins hat.

Emmy thought she was cuter in the hat than Garrett.

Happy Feet

Ahhhhhh, the pure bliss of discovering that you can make deliberate contact with those two footsies that have been hanging over your head for a couple of months.  Jason eyed those two feet, grabbed them tightly, and looked very pleased with himself for most of yesterday afternoon.  Mission accomplished!

Starting Solids

I held out as long as I could, but Jason is getting huge and his liquid feedings just don't seem to hold him out as long.  Now that he has gone back to feedings every 2 and half hours, I figured out he needed more substantial feedings.  So we started cereal last Monday at dinner time, and Jason ate like a champ.  So we progressed onto sweet potatoes (I cooked and mashed them a month ago when Peggy brought them over from her brother's farm), and Jason loved them!  I get the feeling that being a "good eater" will not be a problem for this little boy!

Jason: Five Months Old

Can you believe it?!  Five months old today!  Jason has grown so much in the past month, but I'm starting to feel like I say that every month!  Jason is so much more aware of his surroundings and the people in his daily life.  He always has a big smile for Mommy, Daddy, Sissy, Geet, and Eminy (she has renamed herself) and Ms. Margaret and Mr. Bob (they watch him during the day).  But get him in a crowd and he clings to Mommy and watches from the sidelines.  He doesn't like to get passed around.  Jason has gotten very predictable on his sleeping schedule and routinely takes his two naps a day and goes to bed around 6:20 PM.  We can count on him to wake up once around 1:30 AM for a feeding then back to sleep til 6 AM.
Jason likes:  bathtime; hanging with his peeps; "talking" to Ms. Margaret all morning;  feeding time; play mat; rolling over (he can do it from back to front now!); sitting in his Bumbo; sitting at the table with us at meal time
Jason dislikes:  being cold; being hungry; being ignored; when he has gas bubbles
On the developmental front, Jason is taking the world by storm.  He will have full conversations with you, complete with facial expressions (raised eyebrows, smiles, frowns, grimaces), even though it sounds like a bunch of noises and groans to us.  He can sit up while being supported and rolls from his back to his front (finally figured out how to get that trapped arm out!).  He only takes a paci to fall asleep, then lets it fall out of his mouth and doesn't need it the rest of the night.  He has graduated to a big car seat (rear facing) for a couple of reasons:  Carrie wanted to use our infant carrier for Baby Boy Bogle and lugging around Jason's 20+ pound body and the weight of the car seat wasn't so convenient anymore.
Coming Up:  starting cereal soon!  Jason obviously doesn't need it to help him sleep or gain weight, so we're holding off for now and letting Mommy Milk be his meal of choice.  We don't go back to the doctor until our 6th month visit.

A Friendly Visitor

We "inherited" my friend Sheri's dog for the weekend while Sheri runs in the Shamrock half marathon in Virginia Beach this weekend.  I knew we'd be around the house for most of the weekend, so taking on the dog wouldn't be a problem.  And Sahara is a very sweet doggie!  And I'm pretty sure that she loves being here because all of my little people in the house keep leaving food at her level, so Sahara might gain a good 5-7 pounds this weekend alone.
On another note, Jason suddenly got easier to entertain because he sits up enough to use the Jumperoo!  Between the flashing lights, music, and dog licks, Jason stayed distracted (and quiet) for a good hour yesterday!
Personal space, buddy.

What the heck is THAT?!

This nervous smile means I might actually like this contraption!

You look delicious.....I mean, adorable!

Baby Boy Bogle is On His Way!

Camm and I had a little shower for Carrie today to celebrate her upcoming baby boy!  She's due in the middle of May and we were running out of time for a visit.  So Carrie came to KG on Thursday night, gave an awesome presentation to my middle school about their civics rights and the law (for the civics classes), got to see the nieces and nephews, and had a wonderful time at her shower!
Bottles for baby!  And wine bottle for Mommy....soon enough!

Awwwwww!  Cute baby boy clothes!
