Climbing Fun Party!

Em and Jason were invited to a friend's birthday, which was held at Fun Land.  I haven't been to Fun Land since Caroline and Garrett were around 6 and 8.  Back then, it was the kind of low-rent play area where mothers didn't watch their kids too closely and you really had to keep one hand on your wallet at all times.  But what a turn around in just 10 years  :)  It's so much better (and cleaner!) than it used to be!  My two wanted to do everything, but they started at the climbing walls first.  Then it was onto bumper cars, laser tag, go cart racing, etc.  No fear of heights here!

So proud of himself!

Emily was dying to try these pegs.  It looked like she was in Super Mario brothers!

Made it to the top!

This was a very cool wall where both kids could each climb one side at the same time.  The wall was made of clear plastic so they could see each other while they made it up the wall!

Garrett & Abby: Prom 2018

Well, King George likes to keep it real by having their senior prom on a FRIDAY.  Guess how many parents complained that the kid wouldn't be able to get ready and go to dinner before the dance??  A million.  So the kids got a HALF DAY off school on Friday to have primping time.  Geez.  Next time, just have it on a Saturday like the rest of the world!  But I digress.....
Garrett and Abby went for Prom Round 2!  This year, Abby chose a beautiful ivory gold dress and had to have it altered.  She ended up with extra fabric, so she had the seamstress make Garrett a matching tie and pocket square!  :)  They were adorably coordinating!  They started with dinner at Old Towne Steak and Seafood, then headed over to the Old Silk Inn for the actual dance.
Check out the pics below.  Seriously, could they be more adorable?!?!

Fixer Upper, Suckers!

Since we were already in Texas, why not swing by Waco and visit all that is Chip and Jojo?!  While I'm not a diehard fan of the show, Carrie and Josh have watched all episodes and knew exactly where we should visit while we were there.  We started with a jaunt into Buckee's, where my children tried on Western wear and we ate brisket for breakfast  :)  Then 2.5 hours later, we're in Waco.  We got our names on the list for the Magnolia Table restaurant, and since it only opened the week before, we knew there would be a wait.  We were officially the 115th table in line  :)  We decided to kill some time by first visiting the "grab and go" section of the restaurant, where we all bought mugs and got some chocolate croissants.  Then we headed to the Silos Marketplace and Lordy be, everything caught my eye!  We got Alabama Sweet Tea from the food trucks there but the bakery line was too long to wait for cupcakes.  No matter, because the restaurant serves them too!  A quick stop at the scratch and dent sale at Joanna's original store on Bosque Street, then it was back to the restaurant for a late lunch.  We all got something different and it was all good!  We ended the meal by ordering some cupcakes to go.

Croissants so good you'll slap your momma!

The famous silos!

Finally made it to the restaurant!

We even had a few minutes to stop by Clint's design studio/workshop and former house!  We were only a few of many, many tourists stopping by, so it's no wonder that Clint's family has moved and they rent the house as a bed and breakfast!
