Piedmont Regional Science Fair 2015

Nik, Ellie, and James--all pumped up for the big win!
Yes, the fair was on March 17th but we're super busy at school (and home) and I'm just now getting the pics off my camera!  My teacher friend Tracy and I took 20 finalists to the Piedmont Regional Science Fair at UVA that Tuesday and the students did great!  They always make King George look so good!  We had several honorable mentions, 3 3rd places, 3 2nd places, and 1 first place winner!
It's a long day for Tracy and me, starting with a 2-hour drive to Charlottesville at 6:30 AM and ending with the awards ceremony until 7 PM, followed by the return trip of 2+ hours.  But it's so rewarding to see how excited the kids are every year!

Jenna's project was the only one to win  first place-- her category (math) was much smaller than the rest, which gave her an edge.  She did a very interesting project on what is called "the golden ratio"--the ratio of the human face which we find most attractive!
