Art Award

Garrett's art teacher, Mrs. Hunter, tracked me down today at pickup time to let me know personally that Garrett's ink and watercolor picture had been chosen.....from the whole school....to be the art project gift for each member of the school board office from Potomac Elementary School! She took Garrett's drawing of snowflakes and shrunk it down on the computer and then printed it out and placed it between plastic pieces of a nightlight. It's awesome! She even made one for us to keep as a momento!

gift tag on each of the presents! ("TAG" is Talented and Gifted)

Garrett's Band Concert 12.5.2011

Garrett is a second year band student and plays the trombone. He performed a couple of holiday tunes at the concert with his sixth grade band. He also gets to play the African drums during music class and we got to see how he wails on the bongo at the concert too.

Disclaimer: I have a very old camera and the lights in the gym were horrible. Also, I had about the worse seat in the house. Please have pity on me when you look at the following pics. Garrett is tucked in between the girl in the red hat and the girl in the green shirt. You can barely see the top of his head! Can you believe this was the best pic I got of him playing the trombone??
Don't know the official name of this African instrument, but he basically taps a hollow stick with another stick.

Feeling Better?

Emily was down and out this week with a double ear infection and a case of bronchitis. She was home with me for two days, very clingy, eating very little, and was up every hour of the night. Needless to say, our house was a tense place to be for a couple of days! So you could tell that she was starting to feel better because she waited til I was changing over the laundry from the washer to the dryer and she scooted herself into the bathroom. I found her a couple of minutes later, unwinding the whole roll of toilet paper! She had a good laugh and I tried to be stern but ended up just laughing with her! A Lesson in Cause and Effect
